You know roughly which paddle (or racket, as many of us call it) you want, and now you need somewhere to buy it that won’t sell you a fake or leave you stuck if it breaks in a month. In Malaysia you have four kinds of option: big sports chains, specialist pickleball shops, brands’ own stores, and the marketplaces. Each suits a different buyer.
If you haven’t chosen a paddle yet, start with how to choose your first pickleball paddle, then come back.
The short version
| Where | Price range seen | Good for | The catch |
|---|---|---|---|
| Decathlon | RM59 to RM199 (own Kuikma brand) | A cheap, approved first paddle you can return | Its own range is small. Other brands on its site come from partner sellers. |
| Sports Direct | RM99 to RM429 | Carlton, Hundred and Diadem paddles at mid prices | No pickleball-only brands in its range when we checked. |
| Picklefox (specialist) | About RM480 to RM1,100+ | Pickleball-only brands, two stores in Kuala Lumpur | Prices start higher. Many top models were sold out. |
| TopSports Pickleball (specialist) | About RM430 to RM1,700 | Pickleball-only brands online, with a shop in Johor | Little under RM700 in its full list. Many models are pre-order. |
| Brand stores (e.g. Wilson Malaysia) | RM499 for the Wilson example | Buying straight from the brand | One brand per store, and full price. |
| Shopee and Lazada | From about RM80 | Choice, and sometimes the lowest price | The most fakes. You have to check the seller. |
Prices were checked in October 2026. Sources are linked in each section below.
Sports chains: Decathlon and Sports Direct
Decathlon
Decathlon Malaysia sells pickleball gear online and in its stores, mostly under its own Kuikma brand. When we checked:
- Kuikma Play beginner paddle: RM59
- Play set with 2 paddles, 2 balls and a bag: RM129
- Kuikma Open (fibreglass face, honeycomb core, for beginners who play regularly): RM99 in the 10.10 sale, usually RM129
- Kuikma React (carbon faces, for intermediate players): RM149 in the 10.10 sale, usually RM199
The Open and React are labelled “USAPA Approved” on Decathlon’s site. Decathlon’s return policy gives you 365 days from the date of purchase, and you can pick up in store.
The site also lists paddles from Selkirk, Franklin and other brands, marked “Sold and shipped by” a partner seller. Those come from the seller, not Decathlon, so check that seller’s return and warranty terms on the listing.
The catch: the choice is narrow, and some colours were out of stock online during the 10.10 sale. Use the “see store stock” button before you travel.
Sports Direct
Sports Direct Malaysia’s pickleball page listed 17 paddles from Carlton, Hundred and Diadem, from RM99 (Carlton Spring, on sale, usually RM159) to RM429 (Diadem A52). The Carlton WaveFlex, with a T700 carbon face and 16mm core, was RM169.
The catch: these are mostly brands better known for badminton and tennis. If you want a pickleball-only brand such as JOOLA or Selkirk, look elsewhere.
Malaysia4u’s 2026 guide also names Royal Sporting House for mid-range branded gear. We couldn’t reach its Malaysian website to check its pickleball range or prices.
Specialist pickleball shops
Picklefox
Picklefox is a Malaysian pickleball shop with two stores in Kuala Lumpur, at Taman Tun Dr Ismail (24, Lorong Datuk Sulaiman 1) and at Mothership on Jalan Ipoh (No. 554). It sells pickleball-only brands such as Vatic Pro, Six Zero, CRBN, Ronbus, Selkirk, JOOLA, RPM and Honolulu. Its site says it’s an authorised dealer for several of them.
Examples when we checked: Vatic Pro Prism V7 16mm at RM480, Six Zero Coral Pro 16mm at RM911, and RPM Jade 16mm at RM1,104 (sold out).
Its warranty page is unusually clear. Cover depends on the brand: 60 days for Holbrook, 90 days for Franklin, six months for Selkirk if you register it, and a year for Gearbox and for JOOLA if registered. Claims are by email, with proof of purchase from Picklefox, and are replacement only. Some brands, including Six Zero, CRBN and Vatic Pro, handle their own warranties.
The catch: there’s little under RM450 here, and many popular models were sold out. Specialist shops suit your second paddle more than your first.
TopSports Pickleball
TopSports Pickleball MY is a pickleball shop that sells online and calls itself a pickleball pro shop. It isn’t a venue. Its merchant listing on Atome gives a shop in Bandar Baru Permas Jaya, Masai, near Johor Bahru. It stocks JOOLA, Selkirk, RPM, Six Zero, Franklin, Gearbox and other pickleball-only brands. Its site doesn’t say which brands it’s an authorised dealer for.
Examples when we checked: JOOLA Perseus Double Vision 16mm at RM429, Selkirk SLK ERA Power 16mm at RM880, and JOOLA Perseus Pro V (Ben Johns) at RM950 on sale, usually RM1,299. Shipping is free on a single order over RM150 in Peninsular Malaysia, or over RM350 to East Malaysia.
The catch: most of its list costs RM700 or more, and many models were marked pre-order or sold out. Ask whether a paddle is in stock before you pay.
Venue pro shops
Some venues sell paddles and balls at the counter, alongside rentals. It’s worth asking where you play, because you can often hold the paddle first and the staff play with the gear they sell.
Buying from the brand
Some brands run their own Malaysian online store. Wilson Malaysia, for example, sells the Wilson Fierce Max (13mm, textured fibreglass face, for beginner to intermediate players) at RM499, with free shipping over RM200.
Buying from the brand is the surest way to get a genuine paddle and a warranty the brand will honour. The catch: you’ll pay full price, and you can only compare one brand at a time.
For other brands, check the brand’s own website for a “where to buy” or “dealers” page that names its Malaysian sellers. We couldn’t find an official Malaysian distributor named by JOOLA, Selkirk or Franklin themselves, only the dealers’ own claims. Franklin does have a local company, Franklin Pickleball Malaysia, which sponsors players and clubs here, so it’s worth asking it which shops it supplies.
Shopee and Lazada
Marketplaces have the widest choice and the lowest prices, with carbon-face paddles from about RM80 according to Malaysia4u. They’re fine for a cheap spare or a starter set, as long as you know what you’re buying.
For branded paddles, buy only from the brand’s official store or an authorised dealer’s store on the platform. Look for the brand’s own store name and the platform’s official-store label (Shopee Mall or LazMall), then read the store’s return and warranty terms on the listing.
The catch: this is where most fakes are sold. A store with a brand’s logo isn’t necessarily the brand.
How to spot a fake paddle
Fakes of popular paddles are common enough that the pro tours and governing bodies run a joint campaign about them. The “Don’t Trust A Fake” campaign, led by UPA-A (the governing body for PPA Tour and Major League Pickleball events, which certifies paddles for pro play) with USA Pickleball, the PPA, MLP, APP, DUPR and the WPF, gives this advice:
- The price is far below everyone else’s. A paddle that costs RM1,000 at the dealer won’t be RM250 and genuine.
- The listing doesn’t name the maker.
- Logos or branding are missing, or there are odd details such as holograms the real paddle doesn’t have.
Three more checks help:
- Know who the seller is. Check the store name, not only the product photos.
- Look for the brand, model and approval mark. USA Pickleball’s 2026 rulebook (Rule 3.D.1) requires an approved paddle to show its brand, model name or number, and the “USA Pickleball Approved” mark.
- Search the model on the approved list. If a seller says a paddle is approved, look it up on USA Pickleball’s paddle list. If the model isn’t there, the claim isn’t true.
A fake isn’t only a waste of money. It won’t be covered by the brand’s warranty, it isn’t legal in sanctioned tournaments, and it may not be built to the same standard.
USA Pickleball and UPA-A: which approval matters
There are two main approval lists, and a paddle can be on one and not the other.
- USA Pickleball’s list is the one most amateur and recreational tournaments use. In sanctioned play, a paddle not on the list has to be swapped before the match, and a player found using one during a match forfeits it (Rules 18.A.1 and 18.A.2). USA Pickleball also tests power, and some paddles have been removed from the list after approval.
- UPA-A certification has been required for all professional play since 1 September 2025, which in practice means PPA Tour and MLP events. It matters mainly for pro events. If you enter a PPA Tour Asia event, check its rules for which list it applies.
For social games and open play, neither list matters. If you plan to enter a tournament, check the organiser’s rules for which list it uses before you buy. Our guide to pickleball tournaments in Malaysia covers entering one.
Before you pay
Keep the receipt or order confirmation, register the paddle with the brand if its warranty asks you to, and ask the shop who handles claims. If a paddle starts to sound or feel different within the warranty period, that’s when the receipt matters. Our post on why paddles cost RM80 or RM1,000 explains what usually goes wrong and how long paddles last.
