Disclosure: Arena, the company that builds Soft Serve Society, also builds the booking app for 91pickleball, one of the venues mentioned here. Every venue in this post is described the same way.
Johor Bahru has dozens of pickleball courts, spread across four main areas: Tebrau near the Causeway, Skudai in the west, Masai and Plentong in the east, and Iskandar Puteri near the Second Link. Most courts cost RM40 to RM70 an hour, roughly S$12.50 to S$22, and a few charge RM20 to RM35 at quiet times. Almost all are booked through an app, and almost none can be reached by train, so plan on driving or taking a Grab.
This guide is for players who live in JB and for Singaporeans coming across for a game. The venues come first, and the practical side of the trip from Singapore is near the end.

Prices were checked in October 2026, and are per court per hour for the cheapest standard court. Prices marked * come from recent travel guides (Seth Lui, updated 21 January 2026, and Little Day Out, published 3 September 2026). We couldn’t read them on a booking page or the venue’s own channels, so check them when you book. Each venue’s source is linked in its section and listed at the end. S$ figures use about RM3.20 to S$1. The rate was RM3.19 on 9 October 2026.
“AFA” is the AFA SuperApp, also called Play Sports Together, the most common booking app in JB. Our guide to booking apps in Malaysia explains how it and Courtsite work.

- Indoor or outdoor: Outdoor, with floodlights and no shelter.

- Hours: About 8am to 1am.

Coming from Singapore: planning the trip
What it costs in S$. At about RM3.20 to S$1, a weekday daytime court at RM40 is about S$12.50, and an evening court at RM60 is about S$19. Split four ways, that’s S$3 to S$5 each. In Singapore, an indoor ActiveSG hall court costs S$3.50 to S$9.70 an hour, and an air-conditioned private court can cost S$25 to S$48, per MissLobang’s October 2026 round-up (our Singapore booking guide covers ActiveSG). So a JB court costs less than a private court at home but more than an ActiveSG slot, before you count the cost of crossing. Check a live rate before you go, as it moves.
Allow for the checkpoint, not the court. The drive across is the hard part to time, not the game. Singapore’s ICA warns of very heavy traffic at Woodlands and Tuas over school holidays and long weekends, as it did for the September 2026 school holidays and the Hari Raya period in March 2026. ICA advises crossing early in the morning or late in the evening. A weekday daytime slot is cheaper and usually easier to reach than a Saturday evening one.
If you drive, you need a VEP. Malaysia has fully enforced its Vehicle Entry Permit for Singapore-registered cars since 1 July 2025, with a RM300 compound for driving without an activated one, Bernama reported, quoting Malaysia’s Road Transport Department (JPJ). Register and fit the RFID tag before your first trip.
By public transport. The KTM Shuttle Tebrau train between Woodlands and JB Sentral is still running, and is set to stop once the RTS Link opens. The RTS Link between Woodlands North and Bukit Chagar isn’t open yet. On 2 October 2026 its operator said passenger service is expected to start in February 2027, Bernama reported. From JB Sentral, every venue here is a Grab ride, and the Tebrau and Taman Gembira venues are the closest.
Which venues suit which crossing.
- From the Causeway, Forum Tebrau, KICKS and Play! at Dewani are the nearest.
- From the Second Link, X Park and EduCity are the nearest.
- The Masai and Plentong venues are a long way from both, so they suit people staying in JB more than day-trippers.
Paying. Courtsite takes FPX, Visa and Mastercard, and Malaysian e-wallets such as Touch ‘n Go and GrabPay, per its payment FAQ. AFA’s App Store listing says you pay through AFA Pay, an e-wallet inside the app, but doesn’t say how to top it up. We couldn’t confirm from any of the three apps’ public pages whether they accept a Singapore phone number or a card issued outside Malaysia. Try making an account before the day you want to play. If you hit a problem, the venue’s WhatsApp number is the usual fallback. Don’t send card details or bank transfers to strangers offering courts on WhatsApp: TheSmartLocal’s JB guide has warned of booking scams.
Which court should you try first?
If you’re in JB and want aircon at a fair price, Pickle Connection and JuzDink are worth a look. For the lowest price, Forum Tebrau and EduCity charge RM20 at quiet times. If you have a big group or want to watch good players, ATP Club and 91 Pickleball Clubhouse Skudai have the most courts. If you’re coming from Singapore for the first time, pick a weekday morning and a venue near your crossing, so the checkpoint doesn’t eat your court time.
If you don’t have a group, JB social sessions run on Reclub, the free app most clubs here use. Our guide to how open play works explains what to expect.
Other JB courts we couldn’t confirm
55 Gatheround in Kulai, Pickle Madness in Mount Austin, Gotta Bounce in Tampoi, Hawk Shark in Plentong and the courts at Leisure Farm also appear in guides. We couldn’t confirm them from the venues themselves in 2026, so they’re not in the list.
